    SERP Program

The Saskatchewan Electronic Resources Partnership (SERP)  program was established to support equity of access to online library resources for all Saskatchewan residents, including those who live in small urban, rural, and remote areas.

SERP is a province-wide program in which libraries pool funds to purchase access to electronic information resources: magazines, journals, newspapers, reference books, and other information resources. SERP libraries are helping to close the digital divide, and are working to ensure that all citizens have access to high-quality information, a necessity for education, work, and leisure in a global, knowledge-based economy.

Participants of the program include nine public library systems, all PreK to 12 schools, most post-secondary institutions, plus multiple special libraries, and the Provincial Library and Literacy Office (PLLO). PLLO takes responsibility for the administration and coordination of the program.

All SERP members have access to digital resources in the core collection. These subscriptions run from July 1 - June 30.

    Program Principles

    1. To encourage co-operation among libraries in Saskatchewan in the development and management of a shared electronic resource collection.
    1. To support equitable access to a common suite of quality information resources in all partner libraries, known as the SERP Core Collection.
    1. To maximize the buying capacity of partners through cost-sharing.
