Public Library Services for Patrons with Print Disabilities: Talking Book Disc Service

This is a libguide for public library staff to learn about NNELS and CELA services for patrons with print disabilities.

How to request talking book discs?

Any title available through  NNELS or CELA can be made available in disc format. Patrons who prefer a physical disc can request a NNELS or CELA title be transferred to disc and sent to them at their home library.  An MP3 compatible CD Player is required.

Discs are produced in the Talking Books Disc Service Centre, located in the Saskatoon Public Library.

To submit a request, please email SPL at: access@saskatoonlibrary.ca

Please include the following information in your reuqest:

  • Title
  • Author
  • Source (CELA or NNELS)
  • Patron's library card number

Once the request is received, a Welcoming Initiatives Librarian will make a disc, create an on the fly record, place a hold on the item and send it to the patron's assigned brach for pickup.
